I have always believed in the power and potential of language. My years as an interpreter taught me how to listen, analyze and improvise, skills that have served me well as a researcher. I understand the importance of creating a space where people of all ages, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic backgrounds can speak their truths and be heard. I listen to what is said – and not said – to understand people’s beliefs, motivations, visions, hesitations, challenges and delights. My ability to quickly build rapport, establish a human connection and play devil’s advocate allows me to bring out their authentic voice, nuanced perceptions and actionable insights.
